Asherman's Syndrome Treatment

Asherman's syndrome is an acquired condition characterized by the formation of scar tissue bands (intrauterine adhesions or synechiae) within the uterine cavity. This scarring typically develops following trauma to the uterine lining, such as a D&C procedure performed for miscarriage, delivery, or infection, or due to chronic conditions like pelvic tuberculosis.

These adhesions bind the walls of the uterus together, shrinking the cavity and causing periods to stop completely or become extremely scanty, often accompanied by severe monthly cramping, infertility, and recurrent miscarriages. Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis is the key treatment: under direct high-definition camera guidance, our surgeons cut and clear the scar bands. Specialized anti-adhesion gels or stents are placed post-op alongside hormone therapy to help the healthy endometrium regenerate and keep the cavity open.

Key Advantages of Hysteroscopic Adhesiolysis:

  • Direct camera guidance ensuring targeted and safe scar release
  • Restores menstrual flow and reduces monthly pelvic cramping
  • Reopens the cavity to facilitate natural or assisted embryo implantation
  • Scarless day-care procedure performed entirely through the cervix
  • Uses advanced anti-adhesion barriers to prevent scar reformation
